An Alert From Meta AI Helps Cops Stop Lucknow Woman From Committing Suicide
The police in Lucknow have thwarted a woman's suicide attempt, thanks to a timely alert from social media company Meta AI. The woman, aged 21, was reportedly distressed over her husband abandoning her.
How It Happened
According to the police, the woman had recorded a video with a noose around her neck and shared it on social media, indicating her intention to take her own life. The Social Media Centre of the office of the Directorate General of Police received an alert from Meta that prompted immediate action.
Upon receiving the alert, a police team quickly located the woman's village and intervened to prevent the tragedy. ACP Mohanlalganj Rajneesh Verma stated, "An alert was received from Meta AI that a young woman was hanging from a noose. Immediately acting on the information, a police team reached the spot and rescued her safely."
The Background
Investigations revealed that the woman had been in a relationship with a man from another locality, and the two had married in an Arya Samaj temple four months prior. However, since the marriage was not legally binding, the man left her, causing immense distress to the woman.
Subsequently, she decided to end her life, creating a video message that quickly gained traction on social media platforms. Thanks to the alert from Meta AI, the police were able to intervene in time and save her.
Current Status
Following the incident, the woman was taken into police custody, and the man was arrested based on her complaint. She received counseling and support from women officers and is reported to be in good health now.
The police are continuing to provide assistance to the woman, ensuring her well-being and investigating the matter further.
