Cisco Sees AI Software Like ChatGPT Making Phishing Attacks Harder to Detect
Cisco Systems Inc. has warned that the rising prevalence of AI software like OpenAI’s ChatGPT is making phishing attempts much harder to detect, which is why companies need to implement new defenses.
According to Jeetu Patel, the head of Cisco’s security and collaboration units, around 80% of illicit access into computer systems already comes through phishing, where hackers send email or texts to people, hoping to deceive them into opening a malicious link.
By utilizing AI tools, hackers can quickly customize these messages, thereby luring more people into their schemes.
