A Tech CEO is Investing Over $2,000 Each Month on ChatGPT for All of His Employees
There is no denying that AI and machine learning will play a big part in our workplaces. Akash Nigam, the CEO of Genies, has embraced this by spending over $2,000 per month on ChatGPT Plus subscriptions for each of his 120 employees. According to Insider, Nigam believes access to ChatGPT will help automate tiresome tasks and improve company profits.
Nigam credits ChatGPT for improving the workflow in various departments at Genies. For example, the research and development team use ChatGPT to debug code. In contrast, Amazon previously warned its employees not to share company code with ChatGPT due to a fear of leaks, but Genies have found the AI to be valuable in generating their company strategy outline. The AI has reduced brainstorming hours that would take "hours and hours," according to Nigam.
Although the entire company has access to ChatGPT, some employees are passively integrating it into their workflows. Nigam claims that he has already seen a positive impact on work productivity after just one month of using the AI. He said, "I'm a pretty frugal, stingy person. But in my mind, this is for the health and growth of the company."
It's interesting to note that although Nigam has been paying $2,400 per month for ChatGPT from OpenAI, there's a workaround available. A European computer science student known as Xtekky has created a GitHub repository called GPT4free. It allows users to access ChatGPT Plus without charge by diverting queries through websites such as You.com and Quora. However, OpenAI has warned Xtekky that he could face legal action if he doesn't remove the project from GitHub.
New research from Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology shows that 14% of employees who used ChatGPT in their workflows saw an increase in productivity, with the least experienced and skilled workers completing tasks 35% faster. However, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that the company won't be releasing ChatGPT-5 anytime soon.
