Google's Gemini AI on Android is receiving a stylish makeover with a floating panel adorned with a sleek glowing animation. This new panel's glow is captivating yet subtle, seamlessly integrating with your current app without overpowering your screen.
Enhanced User Experience
The updated interface on Android phones introduces a new "Ask about this video" chip on YouTube, which replaces the previous prompt. This chip allows users to easily access video summaries or ask questions about video content, particularly useful for educational videos and streamlining note-taking and comprehension efforts.
First showcased at Google's developer conference in May, the floating panel is designed to facilitate a smooth workflow while providing valuable information from the AI assistant without disrupting the user's current activities.
Interactive Features
If a more immersive experience is desired, users can simply tap the upper-right corner of the overlay to expand it to full screen. Additionally, the panel seamlessly integrates with Gemini's image generation capabilities, enabling users to drag and drop images directly into Gmail or Google Messages.

While the new Gemini overlay offers a more streamlined user experience, it does not match the advanced conversational features of Gemini Live. However, unlike Gemini Live, which requires a Gemini Advanced subscription, the overlay is accessible to all Gemini users.

Currently, these new features are only available to a limited number of users. Google plans to gradually roll them out to a wider audience in the upcoming weeks, enhancing the overall Android experience for Gemini users.
