Google Removes Waitlist for its ChatGPT Competitor Bard - IGN
Google's experimental tool, Bard, has officially removed its waitlist process, allowing users from over 180 countries to try the AI-tool. Similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT, Bard enables users to collaborate with generative AI. Recently, Bard has added support for Japanese and Korean, with plans to support 40 languages in the future and expand access to even more countries and territories.
Visual Experience
In addition to expanded language support and accessibility, Google has announced that Bard will soon offer a more visual experience. For instance, users can ask "What are some must-see sights in New Orleans?" and receive a list of top spots to visit alongside images, offering a better understanding of what they look like. Users will also have the ability to upload images alongside text, such as pictures of dogs, and request Bard to "write a funny caption for these two." By using Google Lens, the AI tool can quickly analyze the photo, detect the dogs' breeds, and compose several creative captions within seconds.
Coding Features
Bard is a versatile tool for coding, and Google is constantly updating it to meet users' needs. Recently added features include source citations that indicate where certain code is coming from, a dark mode theme, and an "Export" button that enables users to export and run code through Google's partner, Replit, starting with Python.
E-mail and Document Writing
Bard will also soon have the ability to draft e-mails and documents, which can be quickly exported to Gmail and Docs to send out important documents or get a head start on a project.
Interoperability with Other Apps and Services
Lastly, Bard will be able to interact with other apps and services, including Adobe Firefly. This feature will enable users to convert an idea into an image quickly, adhering to Adobe's high standards for quality and ethical responsibility. For instance, users can ask Bard to "make an image of a unicorn and a cake at a kids' party" to create an image in seconds. According to Google's Sissie Hsiao, this is just the beginning, as Bard will connect with more partners like Kayak, OpenTable, ZipRecruiter, Instacart, Wolfram, and Khan Academy in the future.
The possibilities with Bard are endless, and the future looks bright. Stay tuned for more exciting developments and improvements!
