Google’s Bard Expansion Challenges ChatGPT with AI

Google recently announced its expansion of its generative AI technology called Bard, and it will now be available to 180 countries. The search engine giant is racing to catch up with rivals and supercharge its core products using generative AI. It will be integrated into Gmail, photo editing, online work tools, and most importantly, its search engine. The new experience will be akin to search that is “supercharged” by a conversational bot.

The tech giant removes a waitlist for its newest technology, allowing users worldwide to engage with it in English after months of testing it out in the U.S. and the UK. The technology will help draft emails, suggest artwork by scrutinizing a picture of available supplies, and enable partners to build extensions, including one from Adobe that will let users generate images. Google stated that its AI efforts would be carried out in "bold and responsible" ways.

Google's expansion came after rival Microsoft expanded public access to its generative artificial intelligence programs. Microsoft, despite fears about AI technology’s potential threat to society, has rushed to integrate ChatGPT-like powers in a wide array of its products, including the Bing search engine.

The company also unveiled new Pixel devices, including a $1,799 foldable smartphone with a bendable screen that is the size of a tablet computer when opened. Google added a new tablet and a lower-priced version of its flagship smartphone to the Pixel lineup.
