Google Bard: A Competitor to ChatGPT
Google has announced an update to its AI chatbot, Google Bard, which enables the chatbot to complete various programming and software development tasks. With the ability to generate, debug, and explain over 20 programming languages, including C++, Go, Java, Javascript, Python, and Typescript, Bard is taking a big step toward rivaling ChatGPT, the most popular AI chatbot.
According to Google’s blog post, Bard will also be able to export Python code to Google Colab without needing to copy and paste, as well as aid in writing functions for Google Sheets. Additionally, Bard will be able to explain parts of a code to new programmers or those who are stuck on a particularly difficult block of code.
If you get an error with Bard, you only need to input “this code didn’t work, please fix it,” and the chatbot will assist in correcting the defective code. Interestingly, Bard can even debug code that it developed.
Although Bard is still in its early experimental phase, Google notes that the chatbot might produce information that is inaccurate, misleading, or false. The brand encourages users to double-check the chatbot’s responses and test for errors, bugs, and vulnerabilities before using it for any independent works. Even so, the brand is confident that Bard’s new coding capabilities can be beneficial in assisting users in their own projects.
ChatGPT has taken over the internet as an incredibly powerful tool, but it is important to exercise caution when downloading browser extensions and mobile apps, as many of them contain malware. Additionally, some countries, including seven at the time of writing, have banned ChatGPT due to concerns regarding the efficacy of such bans.
