Google's AI video tool 'Vids' now available for businesses - Neowin
Google has introduced its AI-powered video-making tool named Google Vids to a wider audience by extending its availability beyond Google Workspace users. This expansion is specifically aimed at business users seeking to enhance their video creation capabilities.
AI-Powered Video Creation
Google Vids utilizes Google's AI model, Gemini, to facilitate the creation of various types of videos, including marketing content, educational material, and project presentations. The tool offers a "Help me create" feature, which assists users in generating a storyboard based on initial inputs and documents stored in Google Drive, arranged in a chronological sequence.
Streamlined Video Editing
After selecting a preferred style, Gemini AI streamlines the creation process by providing suggested scenes, stock media, text, scripts, background music, and generating a draft video. Users have the flexibility to further customize the video by incorporating stock footage, animations, transitions, and other effects according to their preferences.
Templates and Voiceover Capabilities
Google Vids offers a range of templates that serve as a foundation for creating videos, which can be edited to suit specific requirements. Additionally, users can add voiceovers using preset voices or by recording their own voice using a teleprompter feature. The teleprompter functionality is supported by Gemini's read-along and rolling features, currently available in English.
Collaborative Features and Availability
Similar to Google's other productivity tools like Docs, Sheets, and Slides, Vids boasts a user-friendly interface that supports real-time collaboration and secure project sharing directly from the browser. Initially, Google Vids will be automatically enabled for select editions of Google Workspace, including Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise tiers, Education Plus, and Gemini add-on customers.
The feature rollout commenced on November 7 and will gradually extend to more users in the coming weeks.
Future Usage and Access
Google has outlined that users will have complimentary access to the AI-powered features within Vids until December 31, 2025. Subsequently, starting in 2026, certain restrictions on AI capabilities will be imposed, and users will be notified in advance about the revised usage terms and limitations.
