Google woos India's booming AI developer community with new tools and partnerships

Google aims to tap India's booming artificial intelligence (AI) developer community by introducing a suite of tools, programmes, and partnerships. The move is aimed at helping developers in building AI-driven products and solutions for both domestic and global markets.

Gemini AI Model

"India is at the cornerstone of our global AI mission. With its large mobile-first population, booming startup ecosystem, and diverse linguistic landscape, we're uniquely positioned to drive the AI innovation globally," said Seshu Ajjarapu, Senior Director at Google DeepMind.

Ajjarapu highlighted that India is a frontrunner in adopting Google's Gemini family of AI models, utilized by over 1.5 million developers worldwide. He also mentioned that India has one of the largest user bases of Google's online developer platform, Google AI Studio, which is tailored for rapid prototyping and experimentation with generative AI models.

Focus on key AI opportunities

Manish Gupta, Director at Google DeepMind, outlined that the company is currently concentrating on three main areas - multimodal, multilingual, and mobile - which are seen as crucial AI opportunities. "We have been working collaboratively with our teams worldwide to integrate all these capabilities into Gemini," Gupta stated.
