Google Bard Helps Users Code and Develop
Google AI chatbot, Bard, has received an update to aid users with programming and software development tasks, such as code generation, debugging, and explanation. The new capabilities are available in more than 20 programming languages, including Python, Go, Java, and C++. Users can export Python code to Google Colab without the need for copy and paste. Also, the chatbot can assist in writing functions for Google Sheets.
Bard is designed to help those learning how to program. It can explain code snippets and debug erroneous code, all while providing working code that may not necessarily deliver the desired output or could be incomplete. It is vital to cross-check Bard's responses and carefully test and review code for any errors or vulnerabilities before relying on it.
Google is aware that this is an experimental tool and one that may provide misleading or false information sometimes. The company encourages users to double-check Bard's output and review and test any code carefully before incorporating it into the final product.
The new update comes just after OpenAI's ChatGPT 4 launch. Google CEO Sundar Pichai has created a unit, called Google DeepMind, to help build more capable AI systems safely and responsibly. This group will combine two leading research groups from the AI field: the Brain team from Google Research and DeepMind.
Bard is already helping people with everyday tasks, such as crafting presentations, writing lesson plans, inventing recipes, or planning a workout routine.
