International Networking: ACS Spring 2025 in San Diego, California
In March, NFDI4Chem had the opportunity to showcase its achievements at the ACS Spring Meeting in San Diego, California. The ACS meetings are known to attract over 15,000 attendees from across the globe, offering numerous presentations in various thematic sessions.
This year's spring meeting took place from March 23 to 27 and provided ample networking opportunities for participants.
Key Contributions at the Event
Chandu Nainala and Kohulan Rajan from the Jena Team delivered oral presentations on 'Open databases and repositories: Powering AI advancements in chemistry' and 'Open AI tools for chemical data mining' within the session 'Cheminformatics in the Open Science Era: From Data Science to Artificial Intelligence'. Jochen Ortmeyer from RWTH Aachen also presented an invited talk on 'Teaching research data management in chemistry: How to implement data literacy in chemistry curricular and beyond' as part of a session on 'Cheminformatics Education Resources: Cheminformatics Integration'.
Additionally, two posters were showcased in the poster session 'Chemical Information Across the Chemistry Enterprise'.
Networking Opportunities
Aside from the formal presentations, fruitful discussions took place during receptions, breaks, and social gatherings, providing a platform for networking with international colleagues. These interactions resulted in significant contributions to nmrXiv, supporting the advancement of FAIR NMR data, and the continuous enhancement of the COCONUT database as a crucial open resource for natural products research. Exciting new collaboration ideas were also sparked during these networking sessions.
Stay tuned for more updates and collaborations!
