Google Gemini Live now support Hindi and 8 more Indian languages
Google Gemini Live has introduced a new update that will now provide support for Hindi and 8 additional languages. This announcement was made by Senior Director Hema Budaraju during Google's annual India-focused event held in New Delhi.
Among the various new features and services introduced during the event, one of the highlights was the enhanced capabilities of its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, Gemini. The Gemini Live feature, which allows for two-way verbal communication, was initially launched last month. Now, it has been updated to support Hindi along with 8 other Indian languages.

Enhanced User Experience
Google's AI-powered feature, developed by DeepMind, now enables users to interact with the chatbot in their preferred language, allowing them to ask questions verbally and receive responses in the same language. This feature was initially available to Gemini Advanced subscribers and is now accessible to users on the free tier of Gemini on Android devices.

Wide Language Support
In addition to Hindi, Google Gemini will now support Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, and Urdu. Users can engage in real-time conversations in their native language and receive verbal responses without the need to type out responses each time.
Conversational Capabilities
With Gemini Live, users can perform all text-based chatbot tasks and engage in conversations with the chatbot just like they would with another human. However, it is important to note that Gemini currently lacks contextual voice modulation and the ability to express emotions like ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode.
How to Access Gemini Live
Users can access Gemini Live by opening the Gemini app or activating the Gemini assistant on their Android smartphones. By tapping on the new waveform icon next to the text field, a full-screen interface will open, allowing users to ask questions and receive responses. Tapping "Hold and End call" will end the conversation.
