Google Gemini keeps giving me out-of-date information and this is a big issue
Recently, I started testing three different generative AIs to create D&D backstories, and found that Google's Gemini did not live up to my expectations. The information and lists provided by Gemini were completely out of date, causing frustration among users like myself.
The Issue with Google Gemini
One of the main issues with Google Gemini is that it seems to have considerably fewer parameters compared to other AI models. With only about 1.8 billion parameters, which is about half of Apple Intelligence, Gemini falls short in processing up-to-date data effectively. Additionally, the lack of regular updates and training sets for Gemini Nano, the version seen on mobile devices, contributes to the problem of outdated information.
Generative AI models like Gemini are typically trained to improve their outputs over time. However, if these training rounds are lacking in updated information, the AI can only provide responses based on the data it already has, leading to inaccurate and obsolete results.

The Impact of Outdated Information
This issue becomes particularly problematic when users rely on Gemini for specific information related to their interests and hobbies. For instance, in the case of building a new Warhammer army, users expect Gemini to gather all relevant information and present it accurately. However, when the information provided is outdated, users like myself are left with unreliable data that can significantly impact our decisions and planning.
The Future of Google Gemini
Google has been promoting Gemini as a valuable tool for users across various devices. However, with the prevalence of outdated information and the lack of reliable updates, Gemini risks becoming more of a gimmick than a useful resource. As competitors like Apple integrate advanced features into their AI models, Google needs to address these issues to remain competitive in the market.

In conclusion, while Google Gemini shows potential, it still requires significant improvements to deliver accurate and up-to-date information to users. Until then, users may prefer to rely on their own research and fact-checking methods rather than solely depending on Gemini for essential data.
