You Can Now Share Files Directly with Gemini on your Galaxy ...
It would be fair to say that Gemini has always been a Google darling, released to stand tall against the growing likes of OpenAI’s ChatGPT and others. The debate between Google Assistant and Gemini may soon be over, as Google is likely to replace Assistant with Gemini — and here’s why it should.
Personally, I love using these AI chatbots, especially when it comes to reading long documents. One thing I’ve come to appreciate about these AI chatbots is how I can upload lengthy documents and ask them anything about the content. It’s like having a friend who helps you review just before an exam.
Gemini's New Feature: File Sharing
So far, both ChatGPT and Gemini allow you to upload files using the plus icon in the chat. However, Gemini now lets you share files directly. So you can now share a file with Gemini like you would with any friend from your Galaxy, instead of tapping the plus icon and searching for the file buried somewhere.
The best part? It’s already live and working. If you are subscribed to Gemini Advanced, you can start sharing documents now. If you don’t have access yet but want to see how it works, you can try sharing image files instead. Be sure to update the Gemini app on your Galaxy to the latest build (v1.0.686588308), and you’re all set.
Potential Uses of File Sharing with Gemini
Well, it’s pretty useful, though it depends on what your daily life looks like. For students, they can simply share their notes and ask Gemini to elaborate on a particular topic. Teachers, on the other hand, could use it to create bullet points from chapters.
Of course, there could be multiple use cases like uploading a product’s user manual and asking Gemini to summarize it in steps. Or anything like that could be possible. It’s a welcome change and something we should all appreciate.
