Amazon Alexa Is Set to Receive ChatGPT-Like Updates to Enhance Its Features
Amazon is reportedly working on enhancing its voice assistant device, Alexa, to provide better conversational features. To improve Alexa, Amazon is developing a large language model (LLM) internally, which will be more generalized and capable, allowing Alexa to become more proactive while conversing with users. The company representative further mentioned that Amazon is considering collaborations with various companies, such as Disney and Lego, to enhance Alexa's features.
One of the new features Amazon is currently developing for Alexa is similar to that of ChatGPT, where Alexa invents a whole narrative based on a given prompt. For instance, if an eight-year-old asks Alexa to create a bedtime story about "a cat and a moon," Alexa will invent a story about "Mittens, the first cat to ever go to the moon." To add more detail to the narrative, Amazon has included the use of an Echo Show camera to capture the child clutching an Olaf doll.
The LLM being developed by Amazon, called the Alexa Teacher Model, will reportedly be used to power this advanced feature, where Alexa can create unique stories or responses based on a given prompt. With the help of this LLM, Alexa will improve its conversational skills and become more proactive and dynamic.
Amazon's collaboration with companies like Disney and Lego can potentially give Alexa access to more prompts and inputs to create unique and exciting narratives. The development of Alexa's LLM is still underway, and it is yet to be seen when these new features will be rolled out.
