Google launches new healthcare-related features for Search ...
Google on Tuesday announced new products and features aimed at healthcare use cases, including improved overviews in Google Search for health queries, medical records APIs, and new health-focused “open” AI models.
New Features in Google Search
In Search, Google is using AI and ranking systems to expand “knowledge panel” answers on thousands of health-related topics and adding support for healthcare queries in multiple languages on mobile devices. This update includes the introduction of a Search feature called “What People Suggest” in the U.S. on mobile, which highlights content from users with shared experiences relating to health conditions.
Additionally, Google is utilizing AI to organize different perspectives from online discussions into easy-to-understand themes, allowing users to quickly grasp what people are saying.
Health Connect Platform for Android Devices
Google has launched new medical records APIs globally for its Health Connect platform for Android devices. These APIs enable apps to read and write medical record information like allergies, medications, immunizations, and lab results in standard FHIR format, making it easier for users to access and manage their health data.
Pixel Watch 3 and Open AI Models for Drug Discovery
Google has also announced the upcoming launch of the Loss of Pulse Detection feature on its Pixel Watch 3 smartwatch. This feature, cleared by the U.S. FDA, can automatically prompt a call to emergency services if a loss of pulse is detected.
Furthermore, Google will be releasing new open AI models for drug discovery called TxGemma in the coming weeks, expanding its collection of Gemini AI models for healthcare use cases.
