Supporting Influential Creators

At Meta, Holmes’ team provides support to EMEA’s most influential creators, public figures, media companies, film studios, and more in developing their businesses and making an impact on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Prior to joining Meta, Holmes held the position of VP general of Paramount, Comedy Central, and MTV Networks at Viacom CBS U.K., where she played a key role in strengthening its young audiences.

AI's Role in Creativity

Holmes highlighted the various ways in which AI can assist creative fields, including democratizing and increasing productivity, enhancing efficiency, expanding global content distribution, and providing more refined insights into content performance. She emphasized that generative AI will enhance creativity without replacing it. Holmes expressed skepticism about AI's ability to predict the next big content hit, stating that successful ideas often stem from bold and unconventional approaches.

Despite AI's potential, Holmes stressed that creativity remains paramount. She asserted, "To be clear, despite its potential, here creativity trumps AI every time. Storytelling, our first-born extinct, will endure and so will the appeal of real lives with all their messiness, imperfections, and authenticity."

Meta's AI Roadmap

Discussing Meta’s approach to AI, Holmes revealed that the company is dedicated to "building the future of human connection and the technology that makes it possible." She mentioned that Meta’s AI assistant is on track to become the most widely used AI assistant globally by the end of the year, with an estimated 500 million users. Additionally, Holmes shared plans for the release of Orion glasses, the world’s first augmented-reality glasses developed in collaboration with Ray-Ban. Moreover, Meta is working on creating AI "twin" avatars to assist creators in daily tasks such as managing direct messages.

Holmes speculated about a future where AI twins could potentially attend events on behalf of individuals, allowing them to utilize their time more efficiently.
