Elon Musk's New AI Startup To Rival ChatGPT

According to a recent report by the Financial Times, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is in the process of forming a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) startup. The new company, which is set to rival ChatGPT-maker OpenAI, Google's Bard, and Amazon's Bedrock, will be a ChatGPT AI alternative.

Elon Musk is reportedly assembling a team of AI academics and engineers for his new venture, and is speculated to be in negotiations with his current investors from SpaceX and Tesla Inc to obtain fresh funds for the project.

Musk has already secured thousands of graphic processor units, which are computer systems that aid in high-powered computing required for running AI-models and processing high-end graphics.

Musk's Criticism of OpenAI

OpenAI, which created ChatGPT, was founded by Elon Musk and a few other AI entrepreneurs and researchers in 2015. However, Musk resigned from OpenAI's board in 2018 to devote his efforts to Tesla. He has since criticized ChatGPT's censorship of potentially objectionable responses and has called out OpenAI's switch to a "for profit" organization, despite being founded as a non-profit.

A Delay in AI System Development

Recently, Musk and a group of AI researchers and industry leaders called for a delay in the development of systems that are more powerful than OpenAI's current GPT-4. The delay is suggested to be around six months, citing possible risks and threats to society.

In March 2023, Musk tweeted that his company would harness AI to "detect & highlight manipulation of public opinion" on Twitter. This new venture signals Musk's continued interest and efforts in AI technology.
