Discover Zillow’s new chatbot ChatGPT to search houses

ChatGPT now helps people search for houses to rent or buy | The use of AI in real estate industry

Real estate company Zillow has introduced a new plugin called ChatGPT to help users search for a house to rent or buy with the help of an artificial intelligence chatbot. The plugin is designed to assist users in interacting with the chatbot and provide information about the type of property they are looking for, along with their selection criteria such as location and price. The chatbot then searches Zillow's database and offers users relevant options based on their inputs.

Zillow cited an example that if a user is searching for "townhouses with two bedrooms and two bathrooms under $800,000 in Seattle," the AI chatbot will return suggestions from Zillow's database. However, users are not able to schedule an in-person tour or connect with an agent through the application.

The plugin is currently in an early testing phase and is expected to be available to select ChatGPT users from 2 May. Zillow plans to refine and enhance the experience with OpenAI technology and expand access in the future. The company said the chatbot's responses are limited and aligned with Zillow's data policies. However, it cannot control how others, including ChatGPT, use the data.

"Generative AI is changing the way people search for information. We understand its immense potential, and we look forward to developing more tech innovations with OpenAI technology in the future," said Zillow CTO David Beitel in a statement. "The new Zillow ChatGPT plugin is the latest example of how we're using technology to help to unlock information and empower our customers, whether they are buying, renting, or selling their home."
