Google Rolls Out Gemini for Gmail for Web and Mobile Users
Google has started rolling out the Gemini into the Gmail side panel for web and mobile users. This integration will enable users to leverage Google's powerful models, including Gemini 1.5 Pro.
Gemini Integration in Gmail
Google reveals that the Gemini integration for Gmail’s side panel offers various functionalities. Users can use it to summarise email threads, suggest replies, assist in drafting emails, answer queries related to specific information in emails or Google Drive, and even respond to 'freeform' questions.
Mobile Integration
The Gemini integration is also available on the Gmail mobile app for both Android and iOS users. This functionality mirrors the web version, providing users with time-saving features, particularly beneficial for those on the go.
Future Updates and Availability
Additional features for the Gemini on mobile are expected to roll out in the coming months, bringing it on par with the web version. The Gemini service will be available to end users within 15 days, starting June 24.
Other Platforms and Languages
Besides Gmail, Google has extended the Gemini functionality to Google Docs and Google Slides, enhancing content creation and collaboration. The standalone Gemini app has also been introduced in India, supporting various Indian languages and offering advanced features through a paid version.
Previously launched in the U.S. and Europe, the Gemini app in India caters to the local audience with language support and enhanced capabilities.
