Mark Zuckerberg's Fashion Transformation
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, hasn't always been recognized for his lavish fashion sense. Despite having millions at his disposal, Zuckerberg was notorious for sporting the same gray t-shirt daily. However, things took a turn this year when he was photographed in designer jackets and expensive watches.
During Meta's annual Connect event on September 25th, Zuckerberg was seen wearing a custom-made shirt that caught everyone's attention. The oversized black shirt featured gray writing with the words ‘Aut Zuck aut nihil’ in Latin across the chest.
The Meaning Behind the Latin Phrase
If your Latin is a little rusty, the phrase translates to “either a Ceaser or nothing.” According to award winning author Sophie Swerts Knudsen, the phrase was coined by Julius Caesar and signifies the “desire to succeed at all cost.”
Although Zuckerberg did not create the classical saying, he personally designed the shirt himself. In a Fall 2024 interview with the Acquired podcast, Zuckerberg mentioned his venture into designing his own clothing line based on favorite classical sayings.
Mark Zuckerberg's clothing line is inspired by his favorite classical sayings. He has previously been spotted wearing a shirt with the phrase “Carthage Delenda Est”, which translates to “I believe Carthage must be destroyed.” This reference to the Roman Empire was seen during a photoshoot for his 40th birthday.
Reported by TechCrunch, the phrase refers to Rome's call to attack Carthage during the Punic Wars. Zuckerberg's design choices seem to reflect his fascination with historical empires and their struggles.
While these unique shirts may not be available to the public yet, they offer a glimpse into Zuckerberg's evolving fashion sense and personal interests.
