OpenAI says ChatGPT's weekly users have grown to 200mln
OpenAI, an AI startup, announced on Thursday that its chatbot ChatGPT now boasts over 200 million weekly active users, a significant increase from the previous fall season. This marks a doubling of the user base within a relatively short period.
ChatGPT, introduced in 2022, is renowned for its ability to generate responses that closely resemble human-like interactions based on user prompts. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman previously mentioned that the platform had reached 100 million weekly active users back in November.
Expansion and Adoption
OpenAI shared that 92% of Fortune 500 companies are currently leveraging its products. The utilization of its automated Application Programming Interface (API) has also experienced a doubling since the launch of ChatGPT-4o mini in July. This API facilitates communication between different software programs, enhancing functionality and efficiency.
The introduction of GPT-4o mini, a cost-effective AI model, has contributed to making OpenAI's technology more accessible and sustainable. This strategic move has enabled the company to cater to a wider range of customers, fueling further growth and innovation within the AI landscape.
Collaborations and Investments
OpenAI, along with AI startup Anthropic, has established collaborations with the U.S. government aimed at advancing research, conducting tests, and evaluating their respective AI models. These initiatives underscore the increasing importance and applications of artificial intelligence in various sectors.
