ChatGPT Paves the Way for Indian Firms to Casually Implement AI

Indian Firms Cautiously Adopting AI with ChatGPT Leading the Way

Indian companies are joining the artificial general intelligence (AGI) trend by implementing AI technology in their products and services, but with caution. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Wipro, HCL Tech, and Tech Mahindra are among the major players that have invested heavily in AI. While Infosys is working on generative AI platforms to cater to particular client business segments, TCS is looking to build its competencies around ethical and responsible AI, keeping the pros and cons in mind.

According to Gartner, 45% of executives have increased their AI investments after the buzz around ChatGPT, a generative pre-trained transformer that can generate human-like responses. The report indicates that 68% of executives believe generative AI offers more benefits than risks. However, with 19% of executives still being in the pilot or production mode, the trend may soon change.

MakeMyTrip, a travel service provider, is experimenting with ChatGPT to enhance its customer experience. Sanjay Mohan, Group CTO at MakeMyTrip (MMT), shared with IANS that ChatGPT integration remains in its early stages, and the company will only use it if they are satisfied with the results.

Jio Haptik Technologies Limited, a subsidiary of Reliance Jio Platforms, is planning to use ChatGPT AI and Generative AI to build highly human-like bots for large enterprises. Meanwhile, Adobe has revealed generative AI features across its Experience Cloud to redefine how customer experiences are delivered.

The demand for AI talent in India has grown by 11% in the last six months, driven mainly by IT, retail, telecom, BFSI, and advertising/ market research sectors. According to the foundit report, India's job market will see a 22% churning over the next five years, with AI, machine learning, and data segments yielding top emerging roles.
