ChatGPT breaks daily traffic records after launching new features
ChatGPT has been shattering its daily traffic records ever since it rolled out its latest features. According to Similarweb, following OpenAI's unveiling of a new artificial intelligence model, GPT-4o, the ChatGPT website witnessed an unprecedented surge in traffic, with over 100 million visits in just two days after the announcement.
SimilarWeb data indicates that the website is on track to surpass a staggering 2 billion visits this month, surpassing its previous peak of 1.8 billion in May 2023 based on traffic trends for the first 17 days of May. Daily visits averaged 17.8 million during this period, hinting at a potential monthly total of 2.3 billion visits. OpenAI's Chief Technology Officer, Mira Murati, praised GPT-4o for its intelligence comparable to GPT-4 but with enhanced speed and improved capabilities in text, vision, and audio.
“This is really shifting the paradigm into the future of collaboration, where this interaction becomes much more natural and far, far easier,” Murati commented on the breakthrough.
In a statement, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman assured that the new model would be accessible to all users of the ChatGPT AI chatbot, including those on the free tier. The company aims to democratize access to advanced AI capabilities.
