OpenAI Resumes ChatGPT Use in Italy After Addressing Data Protection and Privacy Concerns
OpenAI, the artificial intelligence company, has announced that its popular chatbot, ChatGPT, is once again available to users in Italy. This move follows the resolution of data protection and privacy concerns raised by Italy's data privacy agency.
On April 12, the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante) had given OpenAI a deadline to address concerns relating to age verification of users and personal data storage operations. OpenAI's recent solutions have resulted in the lifting of the temporary ban on ChatGPT.
Earlier this month, Italian deputy prime minister Matteo Salvini criticised the ban as "disproportionate."
OpenAI has made significant strides in the field of generative artificial intelligence and its chatbot, ChatGPT, has gained widespread popularity. Microsoft, which has invested billions of dollars in the company, has integrated the technology into many of its products including the Azure cloud, its developer software suite, Power Platform, Bing search engine, and mobile apps.
