OpenAI's ChatGPT Unveils 'Incognito Mode' For Enhanced User Privacy

OpenAI has officially announced the release of "incognito mode" for its viral chatbot ChatGPT. This feature is similar to the private browsing option on web browsers, where conversations are not stored in the user's conversation history. OpenAI claims that this mode does not save user conversation history or utilize it to enhance its artificial intelligence capabilities, unlike the regular mode. The company also recently announced the release of the "ChatGPT Business" subscription, which gives more control to users over their data.

AI tools have recently come under scrutiny for being trained on data from millions of users worldwide. Just last month, Italy banned ChatGPT over privacy concerns, which resulted in OpenAI setting up a task force to check for any data violations. The company's chief technology officer, Mira Murati, assured that the company is compliant with European privacy laws and is taking measures to resolve any privacy concerns.

The new features of ChatGPT are aimed at putting users "in the driver's seat" when it comes to data collection, according to Murati. Users may now switch off "Chat History & Training" in their settings and even export their data. Under this mode, conversations are retained for 30 days to look for abuse before permanently deleting them.

Murati also stated that user information has helped improve ChatGPT's reliability and reduce political bias, among other issues, although the company acknowledges that it still has many challenges to address.
