Woman uses ChatGPT to plan her entire Europe backpacking trip for $1000 budget
A digital nomad and TikTok travel expert, Madison Rolley, used ChatGPT to plan her European backpacking trip with a $1000 budget. The AI tool was given one task: to plan a two-week trip to Europe while visiting four cities and keeping the cost within the budget.
Madison set ChatGPT to work and was presented with a travel plan that included Stockholm, Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona and Copenhagen, along with a suggested itinerary of three activities for each location.
ChatGPT recommended visiting the Anne Frank Museum, the Van Gough Museum, and taking a canal cruise in Amsterdam, while in Paris, it suggested visiting the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower. Madison and her friend modified the itinerary to include Stockholm, Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam.
The AI tool allocated $1,300 for 13 nights of accommodation, $300 for 12 attractions, and $500 for travel expenses for their trip for two people, which came out to $2,100 (£1,686) total.
Madison was impressed with the AI's efforts, stating that it would have taken her days to plan the trip herself. She was impressed with the tool's ability to lay out the perfect route using planes and trains, which made sense and flowed well. ChatGPT also provided the approximate costs of the travel arrangements and itinerary.
While ChatGPT's information source is two years old, Madison believes the tool is still helpful for travel planning. She recommends the tool for people who are planning a holiday, particularly those who are planning on a budget. She states that ChatGPT provides inspiration for travel plans and gives an idea of what the costs will look like in different countries.
Madison is a budget traveler who shares her travel hacks and tips online with viewers and clients. She uses airline notification services and online sites to find vacant hotel rooms to keep travel costs low.
