Live Conversations with AI. The new way to interact with OpenAI ...
Recently, I’ve been receiving notifications that my generative AI apps have been updated. You could say they were nudging me — got to love marketing. I opened up my two AI phone apps and checked out the details. These updates introduce a new way to interact with the apps by having a live conversation instead of typing your prompts. I believe this feature was available to paid subscribers a few months ago, but it’s now accessible to free users as well.
I first tried Google Gemini’s update, and to be honest, I couldn’t find an option to change the AI assistant’s voice, which was a bit disappointing. I’m not a fan of the default voice, and I also found that the conversation responses weren’t very good. When I tried using it to learn Spanish, it kept forgetting we were focusing on Spanish and constantly went off-topic. I’ve stopped using Google Gemini altogether — ever since they messed up their image generation last year, I just haven’t trusted their AI to be accurate or reliable. And their update here keeps to that lazy and unprofessional theme.
