Meta's Oakley smart glasses look like a better choice than Ray-Bans ...

Meta has been dominating the VR headset market with the Quest and also holds the top spot for smart glasses. Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses have been a popular choice with over two million pairs sold since their launch in 2023. However, Meta is now set to release a new set of smart glasses under a different brand - the Oakley Meta glasses.
Upgrades Over Meta Ray-Bans
The Oakley Meta smart glasses come with several upgrades over the Meta Ray-Bans. These include improved battery life, fast charging capability, and enhanced video recording quality. The Oakleys offer eight hours of battery life with normal use and up to 19 hours of standby time. They can charge up to 50% in just 20 minutes and come with a charging case that provides 48 hours of charging. In terms of recording capabilities, the Oakleys can record video in 3k quality, a significant improvement over the Ray-Bans' 1440 x 1920 video quality. Photo quality remains the same at 12MP.
Technological Enhancements
Another notable feature of the Oakley Meta smart glasses is the use of Prizm and Prizm Polarized lenses for impact and UV protection. The smart glasses also retain the functionality of the Ray-Bans, including a capture button on the frames for photos and video recording. The built-in speakers allow wearers to listen to music from platforms like Spotify or Apple Music. Additionally, the Oakleys come equipped with Meta AI, enabling users to ask the assistant questions related to various physical activities.

Pricing and Availability
The Limited-Edition Oakley Meta HSTN glasses will be available for preorder on July 11 at a price of $499. Meta plans to release the rest of the Oakley line later in the summer, with a price tag of $399 for select countries. Other regions will gain access to the Oakley Meta smart glasses later in the year.
