WhatsApp Rolls Out New Effects for Video Calls, Group Calling...
WhatsApp is introducing several new features to enhance the audio and video calling experience on both desktop and mobile platforms, just in time for the holiday season. Users can now choose from up to 10 effects in video calls, adding a fun element to their conversations.
In a recent blog post, WhatsApp detailed these new features, including the ability to select specific participants for calls within group chats without disrupting the entire conversation. The platform also boasts higher-resolution video calling for clearer images during individual and group calls.
Enhanced Calling Experience on Desktop and Mobile Platforms
WhatsApp now offers users a range of options in the Calls tab on the desktop app, such as starting a call, creating a call link, and dialling a number. This update aims to streamline the calling process and make it more convenient for users.
Recent Introductions on WhatsApp
These new features complement the recent additions to WhatsApp, such as typing indicators for real-time engagement in chats. Visual cues now appear in chats, indicating which users are actively typing in both one-to-one and group conversations.
Additionally, WhatsApp rolled out voice message transcripts last month to provide users with text-based transcriptions of received voice messages. This feature enhances the accessibility of voice messages and ensures that users can easily understand and respond to them.
It's worth noting that these transcripts are generated on-device and are only visible to the recipient, ensuring privacy and security for all users.
