OpenAI Brings Tasks to ChatGPT in Beta - Thurrott.com
OpenAI has introduced a new beta feature for ChatGPT known as Tasks, enabling the AI companion to perform tasks on your behalf. With Tasks, you can now instruct ChatGPT to complete specific actions at a future time, whether it's setting one-time reminders or scheduling recurring tasks such as daily weather updates or weekly news briefings.
To access Tasks in beta, simply select "4o [four-oh] with scheduled tasks" in the ChatGPT model picker and send a message detailing the task you want ChatGPT to handle. The AI will then create the task for you. Task management can be done directly in the chat or by going to the "Tasks" section in the profile menu.
OpenAI has mentioned that ChatGPT will also start suggesting tasks based on your conversations. The Tasks feature is currently being rolled out to Plus, Team, and Pro users worldwide over the next few days. It is available on desktop, web, and mobile clients, although there are some limitations during this initial phase as OpenAI gathers feedback and makes improvements.
Sample Prompts for Getting Started with Tasks:
- Set a reminder for tomorrow's meeting at 10 AM
- Get a summary of today's weather forecast
- Schedule a weekly report on project updates
