ChatGPT's Advanced Voice mode finally arrives in the EU - Neowin
In a recent announcement, OpenAI introduced the expansion of the ChatGPT Advanced Voice feature to users in the EU, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein. This enhancement follows its initial launch alongside the GPT-4o release in May. Initially available to Plus and Team users in the US, the voice interface now allows ChatGPT to respond to audio inputs within milliseconds, offering a near-human conversational experience.

Access and Usage
To access the Advanced Voice mode feature, users need to download the latest version of the ChatGPT app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, available in supported regions. Notably, there is a daily usage limit set by OpenAI for this feature. Users will receive a notification when they have 15 minutes of Advanced Voice usage left for the day.
Enhancements and Features
Over the past few months, OpenAI has made significant improvements to the Advanced Voice mode. Users can now choose from a selection of five new voices for responses, including Arbor, Maple, Sol, Spruce, and Vale, bringing the total to nine voices available. Additionally, users can customize instructions and request ChatGPT to retain conversations for future reference. OpenAI has also refined the conversational speed, smoothness, and accents, particularly in various foreign languages.

Competitive Landscape
OpenAI's rival, Google, has launched its own advanced voice feature called Gemini Live for users on the Gemini Advanced plan. Gemini Live is now accessible in over 40 languages for Android users, intensifying the competition between the two AI technology giants.
