Apple Intelligence and a better Siri may be coming to iPhones this Spring
Apple is gearing up to introduce its Apple Intelligence features and enhance Siri in the upcoming Spring season. The tech giant plans to release these updates to the public following a period of testing by beta users, which is set to commence later this year.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in the latest Power On newsletter, Siri is expected to see significant improvements in the spring of 2025 when Apple launches its Apple Intelligence AI system through the iOS 18.4 update. This update is more specific than what Apple has previously communicated, as the company had only indicated that the flagship AI features would be available next year.
Enhancements Through Apple Intelligence
Apple traditionally unveils its new features gradually across its operating systems. With the integration of Apple Intelligence, Siri could potentially offer advanced functionalities such as retrieving specific information from a vast photo library or assisting in form filling by extracting relevant details. While specific details regarding features like AI-powered emoji generation or writing assistance remain undisclosed, the arrival of beta versions of iOS 18 incorporating these updates later this year will provide more clarity.
Anticipated enhancements expected this fall include ChatGPT integration, a revamped Siri interface featuring a new pulsing rainbow design, and improved product knowledge enabling Siri to offer basic tech support to users.
Future Possibilities with AI
Looking ahead, Apple's AI roadmap includes innovative products like AirPods embedded with cameras, as hinted by supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. These next-gen AirPods could potentially feature infrared sensors and work in tandem with the Vision Pro, offering capabilities such as hand gesture recognition and motion detection. Gurman likens these futuristic AirPods to Meta's Ray-ban glasses, hinting at their potential to provide enhanced visual assistance and navigation support.
It is speculated that the AirPods Pro with advanced AI functionalities might be a couple of generations away, hinting at the continuous evolution of Apple's AI technology.
