OpenAI is set to introduce a new feature for ChatGPT that allows users to schedule tasks to be completed later. This move is part of the company's efforts to transform their popular chatbot into a more interactive digital assistant that can rival the capabilities of Amazon's Alexa.
The upcoming feature will enable ChatGPT users to request simple tasks, such as drafting a child-friendly joke for bedtime or setting a daily reminder to walk the dog. The chatbot will then send a written notification at the specified time, which can be accessed through the ChatGPT mobile app. 
Since its launch two years ago, ChatGPT has garnered over 300 million weekly active users who utilize it for various tasks like composing emails, generating song lyrics, and conducting web searches. With the addition of the scheduling option, OpenAI aims to enhance ChatGPT's utility throughout the day, aligning it with the capabilities of established digital assistants such as Google Assistant, Apple Siri, and Amazon Alexa.
Release Schedule and Access
OpenAI plans to introduce the new feature in beta to its paid ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro users in the near future. Users will have the flexibility to schedule tasks either through the web interface or the ChatGPT apps, with the ability to make changes to these tasks within the same chat. Additionally, a task manager will be available on the ChatGPT website for easy access and organization of scheduled tasks.
