Google to develop AI that takes over computers, code-named ...
Alphabet's Google is currently in the works of developing artificial intelligence technology that aims to take over a web browser for various tasks including research and shopping. According to a report by The Information, Google is planning to unveil the project, code-named Project Jarvis, by December along with the launch of its next flagship Gemini large language model. This development comes from sources with direct knowledge of the product.
Another major player in the tech industry, Microsoft-backed OpenAI, is also looking to advance in this field by enabling its models to independently browse the web for research purposes. This would be facilitated by a "CUA" (computer-using agent) that can execute actions based on the information it gathers. This was reported by Reuters in July.
Furthermore, companies like Anthropic and Google are taking the concept of these agents to the next level by creating software that can directly interact with a user's computer or web browser. This move signifies a significant leap in the realm of artificial intelligence.
Google has not yet responded to a request for comment from Reuters regarding this development.
