Using the ChatGPT storage function - practical e-commerce - News Paris50
OpenAI announced the storage feature in February 2024 and made it publicly available last month. This feature stores users’ chat history to personalize their responses and make them better for others.
The memory function is enabled by default. To turn it off, click your profile name (in the lower left corner of your desktop browser), then “Settings” > “Personalization” > “Storage.” Clicking “Manage” in the “Settings” tab will display your saved chats and the option to delete them from ChatGPT storage.
Users can add “don’t save this chat to memory” in any prompt. Users can also create “temporary chats” that will not be visible in the history or used by ChatGPT to improve its models, although it can retain them for up to 30 days. Temporary chats, however, follow custom user instructions.
Creating Temporary Chats
To create a temporary chat, click “ChatGPT 4” (for premium accounts) or “ChatGPT 3.5” in the top left corner and enable “Temporary Chat”. Temporary chats are useful for maintaining a dialogue with ChatGPT using private or third-party information, such as customer information.
The ChatGPT memory feature is independent of your existing saved chat. Deleting a chat will not erase the memory associated with it.
I encouraged ChatGPT to offer ways to use the storage feature for marketing purposes. Here is his response, which I summarized:
