Toys 'R' Us Debuts the First Sora AI Commercial | Entertainment News
Toys 'R' Us recently unveiled its inaugural commercial created using OpenAI's video-to-text tool, Sora. However, the reception from the online community has not been overwhelmingly positive. The iconic toy retailer, which ceased operations in 2018, staged a partial return in 2022 by launching more than 400 outlets within Macy's stores nationwide. In an attempt to rekindle its former success, Toys 'R' Us decided to produce a cost-effective advertisement employing Sora AI.
Public Reaction
While a small contingent of enthusiasts lauded the initiative, the majority of social media users were less than impressed by the outcome. Some went as far as dubbing the commercial a "fever dream" or "uncanny." One observer remarked on the eerie quality of the characters, while another, possibly affiliated with the film industry, made a lighthearted comment about the preservation of human jobs for the time being.
