According to OpenAI's recent threat report published on June 1, 2025, the accounts involved used ChatGPT to create a large volume of short social media comments in English and a mix of Filipino and English, primarily on platforms like TikTok and Facebook.

Coordinated Efforts

The campaign, dubbed "Operation High Five," operated through five TikTok channels that shared identical videos with varying captions. Multiple anonymous accounts engaged by commenting on these videos to create a false impression of support. These accounts had few followers and lacked original content. On Facebook, similar accounts replied to news posts without any evident association with legitimate media outlets like ABS-CBN.

The comments were generally brief and biased, with a tendency to praise Marcos or ridicule Duterte, even going as far as nicknaming the Vice President "Princess Fiona," a character from the movie Shrek. Despite the high volume of comments posted, OpenAI discovered minimal engagement from real users, with most comments receiving few or no likes or replies.

Identified Impact

OpenAI revealed that the objective of the operation was to "flood" comment sections, but the actual reach seemed limited. The ChatGPT developer classified the campaign's impact as Category 2 on its Influence Operation Breakout Scale, denoting activity across multiple platforms but restricted amplification by authentic users.

Despite repeated attempts to regain access, the accounts associated with this campaign remain banned as confirmed by OpenAI. The firm reiterated its commitment to ensuring that artificial general intelligence benefits humanity as a whole, emphasizing recent actions taken to detect and prevent the malicious utilization of AI tools.

Protecting Users
