Apple Intelligence and Meta: Why AI features are missing from Meta iOS apps
Apple Intelligence, introduced with iOS 18, has been available to users since October 2024. These tools, including Writing Tools, allow you to create, modify, and correct text using artificial intelligence. Most apps support these features by default, but developers can choose whether to use them in their apps. Meta seems to have decided not to support Apple Intelligence in its iOS apps.

Missing Features in Meta Apps
As reported by the Brazilian blog Sorcererhat Tech, features such as Writing Tools are no longer available in Meta's apps, including Facebook, WhatsApp, and Threads. Typically, iPhone and iPad users can use these tools by clicking on a text box. However, this option is not available in Meta apps. The company has also removed the ability to create and share Genmoji, emojis generated by Apple's artificial intelligence. The function of adding keyboard stickers and Memoji to Instagram Stories, which was previously available, is also missing.
Possible Motivations for Meta's Decision
The reasons for Meta's refusal to support Apple Intelligence remain unknown. However, it is likely that the company is trying to motivate users to use Meta AI instead of alternatives such as Apple Intelligence. Meta AI is available in most of the company's applications and allows creating and modifying text, as well as generating images.

Last year, the WSJ reported that Apple and Meta discussed the possibility of a partnership to integrate the Llama AI model into Apple Intelligence, but the deal was cancelled due to differences in privacy policies. As a result, iOS users will not be able to take advantage of Apple Intelligence in some of the most popular apps.
