WhatsApp Business Unveils AI Chatbot & Meta Badge, India Leads
WhatsApp Business has introduced new features, including artificial intelligence (AI) updates designed to help businesses automate their communication processes efficiently. The latest announcement from the social media giant included the launch of an AI-powered chatbot for WhatsApp Business at an event in Sao Paulo. Additionally, WhatsApp Business users will now have access to the Meta Verified badge, with India being the first market to receive these new capabilities.

Mark Zuckerberg revealed that WhatsApp Business will now offer new AI tools and Meta Verified features aimed at providing enhanced support, authentication, and one-tap calling for large businesses. These features are currently available in select markets and are designed to streamline communication processes and improve interactions with customers.
Meta has deployed chatbots powered by its Llama-3 AI model across WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger in various markets over the past few months. The Meta AI chatbot is equipped with general text-based capabilities and can even generate images. The company is now introducing a similar AI assistant for WhatsApp Business users, allowing businesses to efficiently address customer queries and provide tailored assistance.

Meta is rolling out Meta Verified badges for WhatsApp Business accounts, following their introduction on Facebook and Instagram. These badges, represented by a white checkmark within a green starburst circle, indicate businesses registered with Meta and receiving advanced account support. The badges will be visible on both the WhatsApp Channel and custom WhatsApp pages for businesses, with the rollout commencing in India, Brazil, Indonesia, and Colombia.
