At yesterday’s I/O conference, Google announced plans to start putting its AI chatbot, Gemini, in a variety of different places, including cars. Today, Volvo said it was shoving its way to the front of the line to be the first to receive the new tech.

Volvo has announced that it is expanding its preexisting partnership with Google to include the integration of Gemini across its model lineup. This expansion builds upon Volvo's early adoption of the built-in Android Automotive operating system for its vehicles.

Additionally, drivers can seek information from their vehicle's user manual through the AI assistant, all aimed at reducing the cognitive load on drivers and enhancing road safety.

Google revealed that Gemini will be made available to cars supporting Android Auto, with Android Auto users gaining access to Gemini in the coming weeks. However, vehicles with Android Automotive, marketed as Google built-in, will have to wait until later this year to access Gemini's features.
