Sam Altman confirms ChatGPT Advanced Voice mode will be available soon
Earlier this year, OpenAI unveiled its latest large language model, GPT-4o, showcasing its multimodal capabilities and the AI model's ability to engage in real-time conversations with humans. Last month, OpenAI announced a delay in the release of the new Voice Mode due to internal safety and reliability checks, with availability planned for ChatGPT Plus subscribers in July.
Exciting Update from Sam Altman
In a recent reply to a post on X (previously Twitter), Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, confirmed that the highly anticipated GPT-4o-powered Voice Mode will be launched in alpha for paid subscribers next week. Unlike the current Voice Mode with delays averaging 2.8 seconds and 5.4 seconds for GPT 3.5 and GPT 4, respectively, GPT-4o promises minimal latency.
In a demonstration shared by OpenAI, ChatGPT showcased its capabilities in teaching users Portuguese, carrying out group conversations, and responding to queries with emotions and non-verbal cues. The release of the Voice Mode was postponed last month due to concerns over the AI's content detection capabilities.
Future Developments
Despite the delay, the new Voice Mode is expected to roll out to all ChatGPT Plus users by fall. Additionally, OpenAI introduced GPT-4o mini as a more advanced version of its large language model, surpassing GPT-3.5 Turbo. The company also introduced a new AI-powered search engine, SearchGPT, which will be integrated with ChatGPT in the future.
