OpenAI has launched a new feature as part of their "ship-mas" campaign, which allows users to directly call or message ChatGPT using a phone number or WhatsApp. U.S. users can call ChatGPT at 1-800-CHATGPT for up to 15 minutes per month free of charge, while users outside the U.S. can message ChatGPT on WhatsApp at 1-800-242-8478.
This new feature was developed in a short span of time, utilizing OpenAI's Realtime API for phone calls and integrating GPT-4o mini via WhatsApp's API for messaging. Each phone number is limited to 15 minutes of free interaction per month, providing users with a convenient way to engage with ChatGPT.
