Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently announced the launch of the Google Gemini mobile app in India. The app comes with a range of features and language support to meet the diverse needs of users in the country.
Language Support and Features
The Gemini mobile app, powered by Gemini 1.0 Pro, will offer support for English and nine regional languages. These languages include Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Users will be able to communicate through text or voice in these languages, and even utilize AI for image-based assistance.
Upgrade Options
Users will have the option to upgrade the app to the Gemini Advanced level, which is based on Gemini 1.5 Pro. This upgrade can be obtained by making an additional payment and will include features such as a 1-million token context window, document uploads, and data analysis capabilities.
Availability
Android users can download the Gemini app directly from the Play Store. For iPhone users in India, the app will be accessible through the Google app in the coming weeks. Additionally, Google has integrated Gemini into Google Messages for Android devices with 6GB of RAM or higher, expanding its reach beyond specific phone models.
Expansion
Along with its launch in India, Google has introduced the Gemini mobile app in other countries including Turkey, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The initial rollout of the app took place in the U.S., followed by European countries like Germany, France, Italy, Sweden, and the U.K. In April, additional language support was provided for Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and Portuguese.
