OpenAI, a leader in generative artificial intelligence, has recently unveiled a groundbreaking AI tool named "deep research." This cutting-edge tool is designed to conduct in-depth and multi-step research on the web, specifically tailored for complex tasks.

Deep research marks the second AI agent introduced by OpenAI this year, following the preview of another tool in January known as Operator, which offers functionalities such as task automation and assistance with planning activities like creating to-do lists or organizing vacations.
"It accomplishes in tens of minutes what would take a human many hours," stated OpenAI, highlighting the efficiency and speed of deep research in conducting research tasks.
The Potential and Limitations of Deep Research
While deep research showcases remarkable capabilities, OpenAI acknowledges that the tool is still in its early stages and comes with certain limitations. The AI tool may face challenges in distinguishing authoritative information from rumors and currently struggles with confidence calibration, often presenting uncertainties inaccurately.
Deep research is now accessible on the web version of ChatGPT starting Sunday and is set to be integrated into mobile and desktop applications by February, as announced by OpenAI.
