Nothing has unveiled two new earbuds, representing a significant advancement in its audio technology. The flagship model, simply named the Ear, builds upon the success of its predecessor, the Ear (2), while the Ear (a) offers a more budget-friendly option.
Integration of ChatGPT
One noteworthy feature of Nothing's new earbuds is the integration of ChatGPT, allowing users to access the AI assistant through a simple pinch gesture. This innovation was announced during Nothing's Tokyo Community Update, showcasing the brand's commitment to enhancing audio technology and user experience.
Key Features
Both the Ear and Ear (a) earbuds from Nothing share several essential features, including 11mm dynamic drivers, active noise cancelling (ANC), LDAC support, Hi-Res Wireless Audio certification, and USB-C charging.
Flagship Model
The flagship Ear model distinguishes itself with ceramic diaphragms for its drivers, promising enhanced sound quality with richer and crisper highs. Additionally, the Ear incorporates two additional vents to optimize airflow, resulting in superior sound quality compared to the Ear (a) model.
Enhanced Technology
In addition to LDAC support, the flagship Ear model features LHDC 5.0 and an upgraded Smart ANC algorithm that automatically adjusts noise cancelling settings based on noise leakage, ensuring superior noise reduction across various environments.
Customisation Options
Nothing is introducing an Advanced Equaliser feature on the Nothing X companion app to enhance sound customisation. This option allows users to personalize their audio experience and share their settings with friends, fostering a more tailored listening experience.
Design and Battery Life
Not deviating from its iconic transparent design, the new Nothing earbuds are available in black and white for the flagship model, while the Ear (a) introduces a burst of color with its vibrant yellow hue. The Ear offers up to 8.5 hours of playtime on a single charge (without ANC) and 5.2 hours with ANC activated, with a total of 40.5 hours with the charging case.
On the other hand, the Ear (a) provides similar performance with 9.5 hours of playback without ANC, 5.5 hours with ANC on, and up to 42.5 hours of total battery life with the charging case.
Availability
Pre-orders for both earbuds have been open since April 18 on Nothing's website. However, the local availability of these products is yet to be confirmed.
