Meta AI rolls out for Indian users
Facebook parent Meta is introducing its artificial intelligence chatbot, Meta AI, in India to expand its AI services in a highly competitive market. The rollout will include the availability of Meta AI in English across various platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. Additionally, users can access Meta AI through the Meta.ai website.
This launch follows Meta's successful testing of the AI chatbot with a segment of users in India, a market with over a billion subscribers across Meta's apps. The chatbot has been rolled out in several countries, including the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
Meta AI, designed with Meta Llama 3, is recognized as one of the world's top AI assistants. The company highlights numerous use cases for Meta AI in India, such as:
- Getting restaurant recommendations with specific preferences in a WhatsApp group chat
- Receiving suggestions for a road trip itinerary
- Generating a practice test via the web
- Creating a mood board for apartment decor inspiration
