Apple's next iPhone to get new AI features; here's what we know so far
Apple is ramping up its efforts to introduce AI capabilities in the upcoming iPhone 16 lineup. The tech giant is collaborating with OpenAI to integrate Artificial Intelligence into its devices. Despite joining the AI race later than some competitors, Apple is set to reveal its new AI features in June. This move comes after the success of OpenAI's ChatGPT, which was launched back in 2022.
Anticipated AI Features in the new iPhone
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple's strategy focuses on seamlessly incorporating AI features into the iPhone's operating system while emphasizing user privacy and security. The new AI capabilities are expected to enhance various applications like automatic text generation, article summarization in Safari, and notification management.
The AI model behind these features, internally known as Ajax, will drive the iPhone's AI capabilities. Although there are no immediate plans for an Apple-developed ChatGPT-style chatbot, the company is in discussions with potential partners such as Google and OpenAI.
Potential Partnerships with Google and OpenAI
While the initial talks revolved around Google's Gemini project, Apple's dialogue with OpenAI has gained momentum. Despite these advancements, there is a level of uncertainty regarding the adoption of these new AI features by iPhone users. Apple is wary of the historical trend where many new features fail to gain traction among consumers. Even amidst the current AI hype, Apple remains cautious about the reception of these upcoming capabilities.
