ChatGPT, the popular AI chatbot produced by OpenAI, encountered significant disruptions on Tuesday morning. OpenAI confirmed that ChatGPT, API, and its Sora video generator were all experiencing technical difficulties, with elevated error rates reported on the status page of its website.
"We're currently experiencing issues," OpenAI confirmed. "We have identified the root cause for the issue causing elevated errors and latency across the listed services. We are working on implementing a mitigation."

Users of ChatGPT also took to social media to share their experiences with the disruptions. One user, X, tweeted, "@ChatGPT is so overworked it can't even finish your message... Today, many users (myself included) are facing errors in the message stream. Is @OpenAI having a burnout day? The fun part? I asked #ChatGPT to write this tweet about its own crash."
Another software engineer, Y, acknowledged the disruption and highlighted broader issues. In a post, Y mentioned, "What is happening right now? ChatGPT/OpenAI outage for 3 hours.
