Ray-Ban Meta Glasses Are The Top Selling Product In Many Ray-Ban Stores
Ray-Ban Meta glasses have secured the top spot as the best-selling product in over 60% of Ray-Ban stores across the EMEA region. EMEA, encompassing Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, serves as a crucial global division for many companies. This announcement was made by EssilorLuxottica's CFO Stefano Grassi during the company's Q3 2024 earnings call.
Consumer Trends
Despite Ray-Ban products typically having an average selling price (ASP) ranging from $150 to $200, the Ray-Ban Meta glasses, starting at $300, have emerged as the preferred choice for consumers in the EMEA region. This trend indicates a willingness among consumers to invest more in stylish smart glasses that are readily available for trial.
Product Features
The Ray-Ban Meta glasses, although considered relatively basic in terms of smart glasses technology, do not feature a display. Reports suggest that EssilorLuxottica was hesitant to incorporate a display due to concerns about its bulkiness, a feature expected in future iterations. The journey towards creating advanced AR glasses is predicted to span several decades, with significant technological advancements anticipated in the coming years.
Software Updates
On the software front, Meta has been continuously enhancing the Ray-Ban glasses with new features, much like its improvements to Quest headsets. Recent additions include reminders, timers, WhatsApp voice messages, QR code scanning, and enhanced Meta AI integration. Future plans involve introducing live translation, Spotify controls, and additional functionalities later this year.
Long-Term Partnerships
Meta and EssilorLuxottica have recently extended their partnership into the 2030s, focusing on the development of multi-generational smart eyewear products. Competitors such as Samsung and Google are reportedly working on similar products, while Apple is exploring the possibility of releasing its own version in 2027.
